With over 100 participants and 9 companies presenting, we raised the bar on how much content we can fit in a mere 3 hours of presentations and networking with this mobile launchpad. Thanks to all the speakers, who made a real effort to focus their message and stick to the challenging 6 minutes they were given.

A quick survey after the round of presentations showed that every company had several people interested in knowing more about them. Several VCs were present and found promising ventures.

Presentations from most companies are available in the documents section.

This first launchpad helped us to identify some key elements we think would be beneficial to point out:

1 | Have your 1-line pitch laid flat | 6 minutes is a short time, but definitely longer than an elevator ride, and everybody should understand in the first minute what is your company about. If people in the audience who never heard of you cannot give a one-line summary of what your company is about, you fail.

2 | Focus, focus, focus | Again, there is no way to explain all about the market and the great range of things your company does. Point the key service and explain why it is so great and how different you are. After some presentations, the key service of some companies was still unclear.

3 | Use powerful visuals | The whole architecture of the system is not useful, show large screenshots or a video and get rid of the awful Western default font that comes in Chinese systems, design matters. One of the presenting companies timed itself with a 1-minute speech and a 5-minutes video. It worked beautifully.

4. | What are you here for? | Don’t hesitate to point out what you are looking for. The audience might have it, or a friend of a participant might have it. You come to sell and people come to buy, be bold and clear.

4.5 | Entertain | Find an entertaining angle if you can, people are more likely to listen and then come to speak to you if you make yourself approachable this way.

We might have another session like this one before the end of the year, so stay tuned and don’t hesitate to contact us with some info about your company. It is much easier for us the remember you if we hear from you directly!

Next session is planned on September 3rd and will be a User Panel. We thought it might be time to ask non-telecom people (who buy their phone and pay their bills themselves) what they actually do with the marvels all those brilliant ventures, manufacturers and operators prepare for them. This session is organized in partnership with the Wireless Developer Forum taking place the same day at the Radisson SAS Hotel.

Feel free to send us in advance some questions you would like to ask our distinguished users.
