Mobile Monday Tokyo Demo Night
+8* Japan Mobile MondayPublished April 23, 2007 at 5:11 am Comments OffLast Monday, after recovering from our one-week intense study trip in Tokyo with a client, we headed for Tokyo’s Mobile Monday held at KDDI’s ‘Designing Studio’ showroom, decorated with Spiderman III goodies (the joke that Spiderman was too ‘wired’ for a mobile company did not work too well with the Studio Manager).
With maybe close to 200 participants, it was very pleasant to find out that the quality of presentations, crowd and organization kept going up since we came to present last November about China!
Among presenters we saw the progress made especially by two mobile startups we’ve been following for some time: Naviblog (LBS / community) and Pikkle, both started by Japan mobile long-timers. Their applications are *really* interesting (and this view is from Japan/Korea/China mobile consultants) but like many ventures, they still lack marketing power to put it in front of the right people/partners. Maybe some enlightened readers will see right away how to make use of them as powerful extensions to their Internet app, for marketing purposes or as a sleek standalone service.
Last, we caught up with an old-time friend and recent Tokyo-dweller, who aside from being an active blogger about the Korean Internet scene, is also the co-CEO of a dynamic Korean blogging company.
