Mobile Monday Beijing – Innovation and Creativity
+8* China Events Mobile MondayPublished March 10, 2007 at 5:33 am No CommentsWhat a year and what an anniversary!
The hard work put into trying to make each session more interesting than the previous one has taken us to new heights with this month’s event on Innovation and Creativity, which attracted a full house in FT R&D’s Innovation Gardens.
We are especially thankful to our sponsors France Telecom R&D Beijing and Kodak for their continuous support and kind words. We look forward to develop further Mobile Monday this year and welcome companies or individuals who would like to join China’s vibrant mobile community and support us via sweat equity or sponsorship.
Andy Tian from Google went across some of Google’s ideas on mobile services, highlighting that today innovation is not so much in hardware as it is in smart integration of services, knowledge of the consumer to offer a superior personalized experience – leveraging for instance specifics like location, age group, time of the day, etc.
Our keynote for the event, Fredrik Haren from Interesting.org, started by presenting some of his observations
- 98% of employees think creativity is important in their job.
- 45% think they are creative
- Only 2% think their employer is doing enough to teach them to become more creative …
A quick survey of the Mobile Monday crowd yielded ~70% of participants thinking they were creative. Unfortunately, later exercises showed that we, mobile professionals, might actually be less creative than we think ^_^;
Many participants told us that this has been the best Mobile Monday event so far – which was a bit puzzling as it was, in a sense, the most remote from mobile services!
As Fredrik was kind enough to come and inspire us despite his busy schedule, we are delighted to offer him some promotion for his work, even more so as he is offering a special price for Mobile Monday Members!
Inspire to more creativity and innovation: Buy The Idea Book as a creativity training tool
You can order it directly at fredrik.haren@interesting.org
(Mobile Monday Members: 180 RMB (store price) 150 RMB)
Note from Mobile Monday: Half book, half notebook, The Idea Book creatively lists in your company’s stationaries budget, allowing you to easily purchase one for each employee in need of a creativity boost! 20% of Monday’s participants bought a copy on the spot, while some preferred to have their company order it in bulk for them and their colleagues.
We plan to go on in experimenting new formats and inviting inspiring speakers. The next session on Location-Based Services on April 9 might be down-to-earth ;-) but the following one will tackle the topic of Mobile for (rural) development with presentations on micro-financing, entrepreneurship promotion, empowerment and ‘wireless rural’ initiatives, towards the next billion mobile users.
See you in a month!
